It’s nearing Christmas in a small town in Germany. Hans the shoemaker works into the night, purposely shut away from the holiday festivities around him. Alone in his shop, with no family and few friends, Hans has never learned the true meaning of Christmas.

While he mocks the townspeople’s merry preparations, Hans is visited by an angel who brings the promise of a very special gift. Hans eagerly awaits the return of this angelic messenger and crafts a gift to give in return–the finest pair of red boots ever made. As the story unfolds, Hans learns the joys of sharing and fellowship, and finally embraces the spirit of Christmas as he does indeed receive the ultimate gift–a gift from God. A wonderful program to teach children the true meaning of Christmas.

I got this movie for my 4 year old son and I felt it really accurately captured what the true meaning of Christmas should be in a way a young child can understand. It is truly a keeper and a great choice among the so many other secular videos available. We’ve watched it together many times. The length is perfect, just long enough to hold his attention and the content is excellent. This movie should definitely be a part of every Christian’s Christmas movie collection.

This is our family’s favorite Christmas movie. It gets right at the true meaning of Christmas with a story of greed vs. giving. It’s a bit like the Christmas Carol where an angel visit a grumpy “bah humbug” kind of man and then he sees the true light-our Savior. What I like most about this movie and it stays true to scripture with how Christians are saved-by God’s grace alone. It’s a wonderful way to help children understand Christmas isn’t about the gifts. I think it’s around 30 minutes. The story is very well written and the animation is truly charming.

I watched this video with my 6-year-old niece and 3-year-old nephew and we all enjoyed it very much. It reinforces good Christian values.

“Red Boots for Christmas” was a hit for my elementary and preschool students. The story makes the audience think about their values at Christmas. It demonstrates anger because of past experience and the selfishness of a spoiled child. It also shows the compassion of a woman who seems to have nothing on the outside, but has great love on the inside because of her love for Jesus. This was a good choice for me.

This is a great dvd. The picture is so cozy. Tells how Christmas is not only for presents but of God’s biggest gift to us, Jesus. Great family film for anytime of the year.

This is just a phenominal production for families to watch together before Christmas to help kids understand what it is we are actually celebrating. We’ve had the vhs movie for a few years but the best thing about the dvd is that we keep it in the van during the months of November and December and the kids watch it on the dvd player many times during the weeks leading up to Christmas. It’s a wholesome Christian video that beautifully proclaims the gospel.

A grumpy shoemaker in a small German town is visited by an angel who tells him he will receive a special gift and visitor for Christmas from God. The excited shoemaker starts preparing his house for a feast and makes a special pair of red boots for his expected visitor. Christmas eve comes and three townspeople who have irritated him in some way come to visit with simple presents and he invites them in to share his Christmas feast. Later the angel returns to tell him that the gift and visitors were from his friends and tells him about the baby Jesus being the savior and that He is the true meaning of Christmas. The happy shoemaker runs out and gives his precious red boots to a small child without shoes. A simple story but surprisingly moving. One of the better Christian videos I have seen. The animation is even pretty good.
